Arrest of Pastor McGill on 7-13-2012

Postby Adriel » July 14th, 2012, 9:15 pm

Dear Friends and Family,

We appreciate your efforts to notify Adventists and media about the upcoming press release and Pastor McGill's arrest on Sunday. Unfortunately, it appears that the Seventh-day Adventist denomination will continue to stop at nothing to keep this matter away from the eyes and scrutiny of the public - including their own membership. We regret to inform you that before Pastor McGill was able to turn himself in on Sunday, the police were called within hours of his arrival in Loma Linda on Friday afternoon. We can only suspect that the local constituency had been alerted to keep a watch out for his presence and prevent, if possible, the media's involvement.

During the onset of Sabbath (7-13-2012), law officers were called and Pastor McGill was taken into custody at the behest of a supposedly "sabbath-keeping," "religious liberty defending" organization. He is currently detained in the San Bernardino County Detention Facility in San Bernardino, CA. This is the first time since the late 1980s and the second time in history that a Seventh-day Adventist has been jailed for the name of his religion in the U.S. Others are soon to follow, as Bro. Chartier is also expecting a warrant for his arrest.

Pastor McGill began his fast on Friday afternoon, and will continue until he is released. We covet your prayers and just as importantly your actions and voices as God's people are pressed down by the image of the beast. We have received reports of U.S. Marshals setting up surveillance operations on the Guys, TN property to identify anyone who comes or goes from the premises.

All of this is being done, we are hated by all men, "because of the name." Please forward this information to as many as possible - Adventists or not. Protest this unjust incarceration, and let the Adventist church and its members know what they are doing. Every Seventh-day Adventist member is accountable for this action. Your tithe money is being used to keep Pastor McGill in jail, and seek other Creation Seventh Day Adventists to incarcerate them as well. Will you continue to support this beast? Will you stand by idly while men and women are jailed for their faith on your behalf, with your sacred tithes? Will you, as in the dark ages, say that "It is the leaders burning Huss and Jerome, we have no accountability?"

May God forbid that such gross negligence be found among His professed people in a religious crisis.

"And now, in this fearful crisis, in the presence of the idolatrous priests and the apostate king, they remained neutral. If God abhors one sin above another, of which His people are guilty, it is doing nothing in case of an emergency. Indifference and neutrality in a religious crisis is regarded of God as a grievous crime and equal to the very worst type of hostility against God." [3T 281]
