Re: Church Authority and Independent Spirits

Brother Lucas, You answer was satisfactory enough. I just want to figure out how the CSDA would deal with said situation of a member with an “independent spirit” as manifested in believing to teaching differently. The reality is, is that fallen churches don’t exactly acknowledge when they are in err...

Re: Church Authority and Independent Spirits

This question is about the focal point of my point:

If we are all supposed to bow to the voice of the church (which I believe we should, WHEN it is representing the voice of God), then why did the CSDA come out of her?

Such action is a perfect violation of church authority.

Re: Church Authority and Independent Spirits

The intention of this article is to bring to view several different Bible texts and Ellen White statements that are presented as Adventist arguments which validate Catholicism to its core. The reason that it is desired for these arguments to be exposed is because they actually hinder the furtherance...

Re: Church Authority and Independent Spirits

Brother Lucas: I also noticed that a common thread was that it never referred to a church entity, but rather to individuals. However, I do believe that there is a time when it can apply to the church as well. I said: “To strictly hold to the statements that you set forth, would be to remain a Jew th...

Re: Church Authority and Independent Spirits

These are all beautiful statements. I love them all. I have a question though. At what point do the following statements hold weight, if the followers of Jesus are to implicitly obey the church? I find many instances in history, where, because the church was violating principle, the principles set f...

Re: The Trinity and The Argument of Progressive Revelation

Here are my thoughts on the greater and lesser lights: The statement in consideration: “The Lord has sent his people much instruction, line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, and there a little. Little heed is given to the Bible, and the Lord has given a lesser light to lead men and wom...

Re: The Trinity and The Argument of Progressive Revelation

Hmmm... Makes good sense. When it comes to the Bible and Ellen White's works, as I have stated before, I place her writings on equal level with any Bible prophet's writings. There is a tendency it seems, for Adventists to view a verse in the Bible as above a statement from Ellen White. The claim is ...

Re: The Trinity and The Argument of Progressive Revelation

Some small clarifications I believe that the Scriptures are all in harmony, but I do not honestly see that certain interpretations of Scripture are in harmony with the actual Scriptures themselves. When I state something, I am stating my honest view of the thing and why that is my honest view. I mak...

Re: The Trinity and The Argument of Progressive Revelation

You posed a few questions that could be consider as fair and that I think should be addressed. You said: “The Spirit is nowhere indicated as a being or entity unto itself, and is unmentioned in the hierarchy given us of Heavenly operations.” This statement indicates otherwise: “The Holy Spirit is th...

Re: The Trinity and The Argument of Progressive Revelation

It was an afterthought of mine that the issue of Satan being "next in honor" to Christ might come up, so I added my understanding of that passage in a P.S. at the end of my original comment, which I probably added after you read the unedited version. Anyways... that is my explanation to th...
